The Acorn is a par 3 golf course in Northbridge, Massachusetts. It is located at Shining Rock Golf Club.

This 9 hole short course opened in July 2024. Hole distances currently range from 45-129 yards, but an additional tee box is being constructed for hole 2 (which will extend the distance to 175 yards). The total course distance is about 900 yards, making this venue the perfect spot for practice or some friendly competition.

Golfers can expect bunkers, a water hazard, some elevation changes and undulating bentgrass greens. Each green features two flags, which means golfers can play the course again for different distances and challenges. A re-play round costs $15.

The area around the 9th green features a fire pit with chairs, cornhole, a taco truck and a beer garden. Sounds like a great spot for ending a good (or bad) round!

The Acorn, the new par 3 at Shining Rock in Northbridge, MA is a great place to work on your short game! Holes range from 45 yds to 129 yds with beautiful greens and tee boxes! The tee boxes are grass with the option of a mat with slots for a tee. If using the grass I recommend using a tee to lift the ball just off the surface of the tee box. They are still new and haven’t settled so they are hard and my club bounced off the tee box when I didn’t use a tee. The Acorn does stress accuracy as it is set up with the next tee box right behind or next to the previous green and bunkers in front of most holes! It is a very fun, yet challenging par 3 that we enjoyed playing and will be back soon! Bonus is there is a full driving range with grass hitting bays for irons and a grass area for drivers with the use of a tee as well as a nice area to sit and enjoy a beverage after the range and par 3. I highly recommend you try it! Note: It is not located at the Shining Rock clubhouse. Drive past the parking lot and take the left after you pass hole 10 tee box on the main course or stop at the pro shop and ask directions. It is 2 min away.
