Once you’ve settled on the best golf cart brand, finding ways to customize your golf cart’s appearance should move to the top of your priority list. A new golf cart wheel and tire combination is one of the best ways to enhance your style.
With that in mind, I’d like to take a few minutes to highlight some eye-catching golf cart wire wheels.
These wheels are typically found on classic cars, but that they can also serve as classy upgrade for your golf cart.
5 Modern Wire Wheels for Golf Carts
I have good news and bad news.
The good news is that there are some cool modern takes on the golf cart wire wheel. You can make your Club Car, Yamaha or EZ GO “pop.”
The bad news is that there aren’t many traditional wire wheels designed specifically for golf carts. If you want these wheels for your golf car, you’ll need to have them custom made or add a lift kit to make room for a bigger wheel/tire combination.
Here are my top 5 off-the-shelf wheel options.
LA Wire Wheels (100 Spoke Golf Cart Wheels)
These are the golf cart wire wheels you probably had in mind when you did your Google search.
Though LA Wire Wheels are designed for classic cars and low riders, you can also install them on your golf cart with the included adapters.
These bad boys will turn some heads at the golf course or in your fancy-pants neighborhood.
For fitment purposes, here’s what you need to know (thanks to Sloan at BA Carts for this info):
- Most golf cart rims are 7″ wide (you’re good to go there)
- The golf cart lug pattern is typically 4×4 (4 lugs spaced 4″ apart or 4 lugs space 100mm apart) – this set includes a 4x100mm adapter
- You’re going to need at least a 3″ lift on your golf cart in order to accommodate these rims, plus tires
If you go this route, please share some photos in the comments section at the end of the article.
[and if you need to take it up ANOTHER notch, go for the gold!]
- Set of 4, includes 4x100 adapters
- Golf cart lift required
Red Hawk TIR-RX395 Machined Wheel
Red Hawk builds quality golf cart parts and components, and they’ve created a modern take on golf cart wire wheels. This unique design essentially has 20 “wires” or spokes.
This isn’t the classic look that many of us imagine when we think of wire wheels, but it is a classy modern spin.
And let’s be honest, these will be much easier to clean than a 100 wire wheel.
You have two color options to choose from for your cart: a gloss black with silver wires, or a gloss black with black wires.
Both will add some real modern class to your vehicle.
Tires will need to be purchased separately.
MODZ Assassin Chrome Wheel and Tire Set
If you want 4 new wheels and tires that feature that classic wire wheel look, the MODZ Assassin Chrome are the product you need for your cart.
This pronged design features 16 shiny spokes that give off that classic vibe of yester year. Other color options are available including gunmetal, red, black, and glossy silver.
Important note: You’ll need at least a 6″ lift kit in order to accommodate these oversized wheels.
16 chrome lug nuts are included, along with 4 center caps that should fit on Club Car and E-Z-GO golf carts.
MODZ is a Texas-based company that offers great customer service.
Rhox Phoenix Machined Golf Wheel
Have you seen wire rims plated in 24k gold? It’s safe to say that gold-plated wheels add that extra bling factor.
If you want to achieve the same look without spending thousands, the Rhox Phoenix wheels check some of those boxes.
These wheels are a great product for owners who don’t want huge wheels or an oversized golf cart tire. Center cap included.
Turbine Gold and Black Hub Caps (the cheap route)
Size: 8″ wheel covers
If you’re looking to upgrade your golf cart rims on a tight budget, these wheel covers will get the job done.
Until your rap career takes off, this is the most cost-effective way to mimic that golf cart wire wheels look.
All you need to do is clip these bad boys over your current golf cart wheels. No new tires or adapters needed.
My advice if you’re going this route: Order 5 wheel covers, in case something happens to one of the covers.
I’ve read some real reviews for the Turbine Gold wire wheel covers. They look like a good budget-friendly option, but they aren’t perfect. One customer reported that they are hard to clip on and another mentioned that they can be a bit noisy.
4 Reasons to Consider Golf Cart Wire Wheels
Not all golf cart accessories are practical, but if you’re looking for some reasons to justify a wheel upgrade, I’ll help you make the case.
Here are four reasons to consider wire wheels for your golf cart.
- Classy style upgrade (obviously)
- Increased cart value (great if you’re looking to resell down the road)
- Better cooling for your golf cart brakes (thanks to all that extra airflow)
- Less weight than other wheel options (which may equal slightly better gas mileage or battery life)
All that to say, golf cart wire wheels have a visual appeal and some noteworthy performance benefits.
So what are you waiting for? Get some wire wheels and post those photos.
